YONATAN GAT + Juma Sultan's Aboriginal Music Society

DOORS AT 7 // MUSIC AT 8
$20 TICKETS AT THE DOOR
Friday holy smokes what a show. Juma's Sultan's Aboriginal Music Society is a 9- piece long form minimalist improv psychedelic afro-blues project. Let's call it "World-Beat Garage-Jazz".  He’s played and collaborated with --- Jimi Hendrix, Archie Shepp, Sonny Simmons, Pharaoh Sanders, James "Blood" Ulmer, Dave Burell, Sam Rivers, and many, many more. A truly inzane list.

Yonatan Gat first came on the scene with his band MONOTONIX (Drag City) they played 1,000 concerts, collaborated with musicians such as Ian Mackaye, Guy Picciotto, and Calvin Johnson, and also toured as support for Pavement, Faith No More, and Silver Jews.

Solo he is all over the place. Everything from making records with David Berman to collaborating with Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Thor Harris (Swans), and Algonquin powwow drum ensemble—Eastern Medicine Singers.

HIS BAND FOR THIS RUN IS TCHESER HOLMES (IRREVERSIBLE ENTANGLEMENTS) - DRUMS / AARON BAUM KEYS / ALEX NUTTER ELECTRONICS

Basically tonight we have a meeting of underground legends who have been deeply involved from the 60s, 70s, to now. NOT A SHOW TO MISS. I'm hearing rumors of a collaboration!
